We
have over twenty four acres of lavender growing at Hartley Park
Farm that we harvest in July and August to produce 700 litres of
pure lavender oil.
We
grow four species of lavender: Folgate with a mild aroma which produces
a top quality English lavender oil; Maillette, originally from France
with a strong perfume, also for top quality essential lavender oil;
Imperial Gem and Grosso which are primarily used for dried production
and bunching because of their vibrant colour. Grosso produces the
pungent and abundant lavandin oil.
It
takes three years for the lavender plants to mature, each with a
life cycle of between 10 and 12 years. After harvesting we distil
the lavender at our own distillery on the farm. The lavender oil
is then left to mature for several months before we make our body
care range of products.
We
are proud that all our products contain our own quality lavender
grown on the farm and share our enthusiasm with welcome visitors
to Hartley Park Farm during the summer months.
